Visas, currency (som), transport, connectivity and etiquette for a smooth trip.
Uzbekistan has greatly simplified travel in recent years. Many nationalities enjoy visa-free entry or a straightforward e-visa. Always check the latest rules for your passport before booking.
Money
The currency is the Uzbek som. Cash is still widely used; carry some, and use ATMs in cities. International cards are increasingly accepted in hotels and larger shops.
Getting around
The high-speed Afrosiyob train links Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara comfortably. Shared taxis and domestic flights cover longer distances. Learn a few words of Uzbek or Russian — courtesy goes a long way.
Etiquette
Dress modestly at shrines and mosques, greet elders first, and accept tea when offered — hospitality is central to Uzbek culture.
